3a. Off the light at the switch & use the remote to on/off the light (use it till its flat again).

 b. Take the light out and store it somewhere to use in emergencies when the power goes out.

 c. Take it out to use like a torch when you go camping or need to see something outside.

 d. Leave it on the "DC" function in any fitting to go on automatically when the power fails.
