Industrial wall hanging made from a vintage latch casting pattern mould marked SIMCO WF7 6 7. One-of-a-kind reclaimed decor with rich patina and history.
A striking piece of industrial heritage, this original engineering pattern mould was used in the casting of mechanical latch components for heavy-duty machinery.
Finished in its original factory red, the surface carries a rich patina developed over decades - scuffs, worn edges, and faint workshop markings that speak to its working life.
At its centre sits a sculptural, latch-like form, complete with a curved lever detail and a raised semi-circular element. This distinctive feature gives the piece a strong mechanical identity, both functional in origin and visually compelling as wall art.
Etched into the wood is "SIMCO WF7 6 7", while along the side of the central form, the more detailed marking "Jeffrey Man latch casting DRG B 8161" remains visible - linking the piece directly to its engineering purpose and provenance.
The bold hand-painted "3A" adds another layer of authentic factory marking, reinforcing its one-off nature.
Crafted from solid wood with original metal fittings, this piece is a true artefact of South Africa's industrial past, now reimagined as a statement décor item.
It can be mounted securely on a wall or styled as part of a layered, collected interior.
A one-of-a-kind piece, rich in form, history, and character.
