From Rhodesia, a Pure Silver Ingot / Medallion for the Selous Scouts dated 1973.
1,500 Ingots were made for presentation to members of the Regiment and for sale to the general public. They were produced by Mathews Manufacturing of Bulawayo. The engraver was Trevor Wood of the SA Historical Mint. This is a numbered (0839) original piece. Because of the popularity of Selous Scouts items inferior copies have been made.
The ingot weighs 66.0 gm. Length 60.9 mm. Height 31.2 mm. Thickness 4.3 mm. Mirror fields and frosted designs. Rhodesian silver hallmarks and numbered 0839 on the edge
The ingot comes fitted inside a velvet-lined maroon case (15.5 cm x 8.5 cm x 3 cm) with the Regimental emblem in brass on the outside.
