This is an attractively composed painting. There are labourers in the vineyards in front of a Cape Dutch farm house. The Stellenbosch view of the back of Table Mountain and Devil's Peak are in the background.
Anthony Walton was born in 1942 in Johannesburg. In the early years of his career he had expert private tuition by seasoned well known artists Errol Boyley, Allan Wolton, Dino Paravano, and Arthur O'Mant. He is highly acclaimed by his contemporaries, critics, and clients.
During his illustrious 35 years as a professional artist his paintings are represented in the collections of corporations, embassies, institutions, a king's palace, actors, a miss world and people of all walks of life.
Anthony paints in the representational and realistic styles, using high grade oil paints on stretched canvas. He specializes in typical South African scenes of all descriptions, as well as portraits from live sittings of photographs.
Anthony says: "The most beautiful places to paint is outdoors, it is energizing and demanding, requiring speed, and acute observation to capture the essence and beauty of our country".
