REDUCED! Unusual Vintage Marking / Slitting Gauge - Brass & Wood (Graduated Post)

On offer is an unusual and beautiful Marking / Slitting Gauge. It is made from wood and brass (possibly box wood). It has been well used and the post had indentations from the thumb screw, but this doesnt impact on performance it merely shows that it has been a tool that a previous owner relied on a lot.

The post has graduations on it in inches and this goes up to 8 inches. The first 1½ inches are brass.

It has a large fence and the base of that is brass. The gauge is very comfortable in the hand and it has a good weight to help with marking / slitting.

It is an unusual / unique shape and obviously extremely rare. No makers name can be fond on the item.
