Reliable Composition Character Doll, C. 1936

Reliable was a Canadian doll manufacturer that made fine composition dolls from the 1920's to '50's. This one is fully marked behind his neck. I have come across this same doll in the past, dressed as a Mounty, but this is the first one I have seen dressed in an air force uniform. To the front of his jacket, the air force badge is visible, but it has faded with age. His head and arms are made of composition, his body and legs of fabric stuffed with excelsior. He has lost some colour to his hair, and the tip of his nose is slightly lighter in colour than the rest of his face. His boots are not original. I had these made for him. I would imagine he probably would have had a cap when he was new. His head is fully jointed. He stands 43 cm tall. Please add R45 for postage.
