Fluorite is one of the most collectible and highly sought after crystals in the world, loved by mineralogists and metaphysical healers alike. Its remarkable cubes are at times, almost too perfect to believe, emerging like magic treasure in matrix rock, or tightly stacked cube on cubelike a futuristic city in miniature.
Fluorite is an extraordinary creation of Nature, beautiful and luminous, soft and glassy, often vibrant in color, with an internal structure of order and perfection that resonates with the human mindlike no other crystal.
It is the only common mineral with perfect cleavage in four directions, a characteristic that may be visible to the naked eye in clear stones as subtle etchings permeating the entire crystal - please see closeup photos. Also known as the Genius Stone it represents order and mental organisation.
Hailed as the most colorful mineral in the world, Fluorite forms in a wide variety of hues, typically purple, green, yellow, blue, and in pure form. It is frequently multi-colored with bands, or zones, of color that intermingle.
Its crystals were some of the first specimens studied for the phenomenon of fluorescence, (Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation) which was named Fluorite.
