Remembering Old Johannesburg edited by Claire Robertson describes the city as it is remembered by early Johannesburgers, in their own words. People were invited by The National Council of Women to submit their reminiscences of life in the early days of Johannesburg. It contains some delightful anecdotes, full of human interest, and describes what life was like for the people: horse-drawn trams, slop carts, ice blocks, the first radios, Halley's Comet, snow and much more. Illustrated with b&w photos.
