Additional Information
'Cohen's life, sketchy as it is, was colourful. As a journalist he was a robust writer, given to malicious gossip, with a sardonic and rather Victorian sense of humour, but nevertheless a shrewd observer of people and events. His books, even though filled with personal prejudice, are notwithstanding valuable social documents portraying the seamier side of life in the early days of the diamond-fields and gold-fields.
