It is pronounced N-O-W and is the Spanish word for "old sailing vessel". The logo features a sailing ship with the company name, on what we would like to think is a homeward journey loaded with the rare spices of creativity, skill and magic.
Daisa is short for Disenos Artisticos E Industriales, S.A., a Spanish corporation, one of several related Lladro corporations and the one designated to own the copyright on Lladro products.

LLADRO (1953-present):
Hand crafted in Valencia, Spain, Lladró figurines are world-renown for their unique beauty and painstaking attention to detail. Lladró is a relatively new porcelain maker, having started in the 1950s, but the whimsical figurines have captured the worlds imagination. Designed in glossy, pastel colors, Lladro figurines embody romanticism and endearing human emotion that resonate with collectors around the world. While many Lladro pieces are cherished parts of household living rooms or the prized possessions of collectors, some of the most intricate pieces grace prestigious museums.
Lladro was founded in 1953 when Juan, Jose, and Vicente, three brothers born of local farmers and endowed with great artistic talent, formed a small family company in the Valencian village of Almacera, Spain. Since then, Lladro has undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an artisan workshop to a huge firm of international scope enjoying continual growth. The company management has remained in the hands of the Lladro family, the owners of the firm, since its inception. The creative team started out by adapting styles from past eras, but it was not long before certain characteristics appeared that would soon shape what was to become the unique Lladro style.
 
NAO: Nao is a separate line of figurines created by Lladro. It first originated in 1968 under the name Rosal. It is intended to be simpler and more modest in design than regular Lladro figurines at that time. Soon its style became the defining characteristic style of Lladro the world over instantly recognisable when seen.
NAO has always been part of the Lladro Group ownded by the Lladro family. However NAO porcelains are produced in the company's own local workshops located in Valencia Spain with their own artisans. The artisian manufacture of both lines has always been separated. However the fact that NAO belongs to the Lladro Group guarantees that the quality in craftsmanship and the techniques used are in line with the extremely rigorous standards of Lladro.
