Offered for sale is a collectible and stylish Ridgway UK large breakfast plate from the Homemaker series dating to the 1950's.
The plate was designed by Enid Seeney in 1956 and retailed through Woolworths stores in the UK from 1957 onwards to the mid 1960's. This is an earthenware item with transfer printed decoration made in Stoke on Trent England. The decorative motif features "ultra modern" home furnishings and utensils for dining/kitchens, with a bold black on white design against an abstract pattern of irregular black lines. Items illustrated included a boomerang or kidney shaped table, a Robin Day influenced armchair, a Gordon Russell type sideboard, plant holders on legs, tripod lights and lamp shades, and a two seat Sigvard Bernadotte style sofa.
