Offered for sale is a colllectible/hard to find Italian Midcentury platter made by the company Etruria Arte in Nove Italy the design attributed to Roberto Rigon. The date of manufacture is circa 1950-59. This is a hand made/decorated item with a bold motif of a fish in profile as the central image. The design is etched /inscribed into the body of the clay and the detail applied in hand painted areas of colour including bright red, black and turquoise blue with some detail applied in slip glaze dots and lozenges. The background colour is a buff /oatmeal/grey with a granulated textured surface. The fish is surrounded with a turquoise pattern of ziggurats suggesting water . cresting waves or movement. The back of the paltter is glazed in a dark chocolate brown with a high gloss finish. The platter is signed with impressed makers marks and a paper label in gold which reads made in Italy.
