This lot of Rhodesian Armoured Car Regiment ephemera is historically of interest and some importance, primarily due to the signatures found on the RhACR Inaugural Dining In Night menu, as hosted by Meikles Hotel, Salisbury on Independence Day 1977. The seating plan has 87 names, and it appears every person in attendance has signed the menu - the signatures have been counted, with difficulty. It is presumed the invited guests includes RhACR Officers and senior NCOs, former unit members of importance, plus honoured guests both civil and military. For example, Col C. V. King was an important figure, as he, as Lt Col at the time, re-raised the Southern Rhodesian Armoured Car Regiment in 1947. The OC of the unit, Lt Col Rooken-Smith has signed on the front of the menu over the units badge - Rooken-Smith was the only OC since the unit was again re-raised in 1972, and indeed was the first OC the Zimbabwe Armoured Corps..
