In 1885 SJ du Toit was commissioned to start the Biblical translations. These translations were completed: Genesis (1893), Gospel of Mathews (1895), Revelation (1898), and Psalms (1907), and before his death he was working on a translation of the Gospel of Luke. hodesia, Past and Present, Stephanus Jacobus du Toit, (translator of the Bible into Afrikaans) ,with sixteen illustrations, inspanned oxen gilt vignette on burgundy board, gilt lettering to spine, 218 pages, 14.5 cms x 12.4 cms, condition: very good.
