As can be seen, the initials of the name slightly vary on the 2 medals (W.T.G. and W.J.G.), so basic research was carried out, and the results form part of this lot on offer. The medals were purchased together from a family descendant in Zimbabwe. William Thomas Gwynne Vevers served as a Sgt with the Matabeleland Relief Force, and possibly the Mangwe Field Force during the 1896 Rebellion in Rhodesia, and as such was entitled to the BSACo Rhodesia 1896 medal. He also served in the Boer War as a Pvt, #609, in the Special Cape Police Contingent, as well as in Cullinan's Horse (#46), and the Kuruman Town Guard, and was entitled to the QSA with Cape Colony clasp. This is a good pair with original ribbons, and surely worthy of further research.
