Rhodesia Light Infantry(RLI) Signals Troop Plaque

The Rhodesia Light Infantry (RLI) was an airborne, commando, and light infantry regiment of the Rhodesian Army. It was formed in 1961 and disbanded in 1980. The RLI was renowned for its professional prowess, becoming one of the most decorated units in the Rhodesian Security Forces. The regiment's main operational focus was counter-insurgency warfare against communist-backed nationalist guerrillas during the Rhodesian Bush War. The RLI's tactics and training were heavily influenced by the British and South African special forces. The regiment was composed of volunteers, with many foreign soldiers joining its ranks. The RLI's operational history is marked by numerous high-profile operations, including Operation Eland in 1976. The regiment's legacy is a subject of debate, with some viewing it as a symbol of colonial resistance, while others see it as a representation of the broader struggle for African independence.
