Rhodesia Matabeleland Rebellion provisional (only 3,000 issued) - please read full description

This is the high value of the set of 3 provisionals surcharged exactly 116 years ago (April 1896) by the Bulawayo Chronicle during the Matabele Rebellion (SG53/SACC50).

Only 3,000 of this value were overprinted!

Given that this happened during an armed rebellion and normal stamp attrition rates over the subsequent 116 years, there cannot be many of these left, and this stamp is therefore missing from nearly all Rhodesia collections.

In my opinion this stamp is extremely rare and completely undervalued at around R2,000 for a mint copy.
