This helmet was picked up from a burnt out Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) after the Entumbane battle in the Bulawayo townships November 1980. The battle was due to ZIPRA members of the National Army deserting, who then threatened to take over Bulawayo. RAR was prominent in the battle, and the heavily armed deserters were defeated. The APC was hit by a 90mm shell from an Eland, and this helmet was recovered later from Brady Barracks, where the APC had been towed to. The helmet has red painted letters "MP" for Military Police and "ZPRA" for Zipra - an interesting and unique piece.
