An EXCELLENT example of Rhodesian Bush War , 1960s South African Security Forces 1st Patt. Camouflage Alouette III Pilot's Flight-suit. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Camouflage Design Relief on obverse and reverse. All Zipper closures and adjustable features appear present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Camouflage Pattern may display a small degree of colour fading due to sun exposure / environmental applications. All pockets on chest feature Zipper closures - whilst Elasticated cuffs / wrist-bands remain intact. Hip pockets and rear pocket are complete with breathable mesh liner system. Primary Zipper Closure functional when engaged - handle carefully as components are over 50 years old and can be delicate.
This piece would have been utilised by a SA Security Forces Alouette III Helicopter Pilot - during the Rhodesian Bush War from 1967 -1974. South African personnel were seconded to the Operational Area in Rhodesia until August 1974 , in order to assist the Ian Smith led Government.
