Here we have an interesting and "innovative" piece dating from the Rhodesian bushwar - a std Rhodesian canvas webbing yoke with a custom set-up including 2 x added upside down FN (r1) 7,62mm mag pouches (obviously well thought out and allowing the user to easily carry 2 x extra 20 round mags without sacrificing any comfort or functionality or space on the belt around the waist!
The additional 2 x mag pouches seem to be have hand-sewn onto the yoke and are in good condition as is the yoke - all clips and straps are in great shape considering the age.
Also of interest is the added padding on the underside of the straps - in SADF nutria cloth (possibly indicating continued use of these straps/ yoke by an ex-Rhodesian soldier after he moved South and joined the SADF?) - an interesting piece nevertheless.
Unfortunatley I do not have any specific history or provenance of this specific item - was it use by a Rhodesian RLI trooper on Fire-Force duty? Maybe used by a member of the 44 Para Pathfinder "Philistines" (which had many ex-Rhodesians amongst its ranks in the early days) or even a Rhodesian SAS trooper during external, cross-border raids??? The piece was sourced from Bloemfontein area.
Please see the attached pics for further detail and as an indication of the items condition and completeness.
Please note that the 32 Battalion winter pattern camo used as a background is not include in this auction.
Please note that the R1 magazine shown only for demo purposes and is NOT included in this auction!
Happy bidding!!!
