Rhodesian SAS ‘D’ Squadron (South African Recces) Bergen Rucksack
Here we have a South African Recce issue Backpack (called a Bergen by the Rhodesians) as used by ‘D’ Squadron Rhodesian SAS who were formed from elements of the Recces operating with the Rhodesians during the Rhodesian bush war.
It is made of a very durable rip stop canvas with many pockets and pouches, this one however has been fitted with Rhodesian shoulder straps which were more padded than the South African straps so were more comfortable, in very good condition.
Uniforms and equipment used during the Rhodesian bush war were usually modified for comfort in the field.
