Based on the best-selling 1970 novel by Irwin Shaw, this classic 1976 mini-series spans the period from 1945 through the late 1960s and follows the divergent career courses of the impoverished German immigrant Jordache brothers.

Rudy (Peter Strauss) is the rich man of the title, a well-educated and very ambitious entrepreneur who is determined to triumph over his background while younger brother, rebel Tom (Nick Nolte) is the poor man.

This was the series that had South African viewers glued to their TVs in the late 70s and introduced Falconetti, one of the most memorable of villains, to the small screen.
