A BEAUTIFUL ANEMONES WINDFLOWER PATTERN PLATE BY RIDGWAY ROYAL VALE. IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS. THE PRINTED MARK DATES THIS SET TO THE PERIOD 1956 TO 1964.
 
Decorated with PINK AND RED ANEMONE WINDFLOWERS. The rims are highlighted in gold.  The rims are gently scalloped, with two embossed handles giving the plate an added elegance. NOTE I HAVE TWO OF THESE ROYAL VALE ANEMONE PATTERN PLATES AND A LARGE 27 PIECE TEASET IN THE SAME RIDGWAY ROYAL VALE ANEMONE WINDFLOWER PATERN ALSO ON AUCTION THIS WEEK.
 
ANEMONE WILDFLOWER WINDFLOWER PATTERN NO 8169:
Lovely pattern of Anemones Wild flowers amongst leaves.
Anemone is a genus of flowering plants in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae. Plants of the genus are commonly called windflowers. They are native to the temperate and subtropical regions of all continents except Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and the Middle East. All are perennial, dying back after flowering to become dormant through summer and autumn, regrowing the following spring. The name anemone is derived from Greek which means windflower. The name comes from the fact that the delicate flowers are blown open by the wind, which in turn blows away the dead petals as well.

ROYAL VALE CHINA LTD (1913 - 1964):
In 1913 a Royal Licence was granted to the Colclough company to produce Royal Vale, as a registered trademark for Colclough China. Royal Vale was produced until 1964. Ridgway Pottery later merged with the Booths & Colclough China Company in 1955.
 
RIDGWAY (1794-1972):
The Ridgway family was one of the important dynasties manufacturing Staffordshire pottery with a large number of family members and business names, over a period from the 1790s to the late 20th century. In their heyday in the mid-19th century there were several different potteries run by different branches of the family. Most of their wares were earthenware. 
The first generation were Job Ridgway (17591813) and his younger brother George (c. 17581823), who together established a factory at Hanley in 1794, along with a W. Smith who died in 1798. The two brothers split their partnership in about 1800 to allow each to introduce their sons to the business. Job's two sons, John and William, were both to be very successful. They began production in 1802 at Sheldon Staffordshire, and was to remain one of the family's main sites, and a pottery until recent decades. In 1808 he gave John and William, then in their early twenties, shares in the business (which became "Ridgway & Sons").
Through the years Ridgway has produced china with the following names: Colclough China, Malvern China, Melba Bone China, Royal Vale and Royal Adderley with different stamps for each company as the time went by.
Ridgway Pottery later merged with the Booths & Colclough China Company in 1955, and later became a part of Royal Doulton in 1972.
