Description: Rebacked, incorporating the original gilt decorated front board and spine. Very good condition. Ornate stamped gilt illustrations and titles on dark green front board and spine are still bright. All edges still bright gilt. Leaves clean but with light foxing, one small neat contemporary name. Binding still tight, slight lean.. See photos. The first edition of Rip van Winkle to include the 53 illustrations by acclaimed artist George Henry Boughton (1833-1905).
