Hesperantha coccinea - River Lily PINK is a marvellous, water-loving, perennial, bulbous plant, occurring naturally in saturated soils on stream banks growing in full sun. It is 30 to 60 cm tall, with long narrow leaves and a rhizomatous rootstock. It is deciduous, growing in summer and dormant in winter. Pretty pink star-shaped flowers are borne in profusion in summer during the warm and wet months between December and April.
Indignous to South Africa, in Limpopo, Gauten, Mpumalanga, KZN, F. State and E. Cape. This plant is important for keeping a healthy biodiversity in your garden. It will attract insects, including butterflies. Plant in compost with plenty of moisture.
