The Rivonia Trial revealed a sinister plot by communist-inspired conspirators whose objectives were the overthrow of the South African government by means of violent guerrilla warfare and bloody revolution. In any communist country they would have face interrogation, torture and execution. In the Apartheid South Africa of the day, they were given a fair trial.
