DESCRIPTION | Robert Cox was known as one of the best painters of roses in the world and this lovely still life of yellow and white roses in an antique vase shows us why. This original oil painting is signed in the bottom right corner and is undated, but dates from the 1970s. The painting is done on artist's board (treated canvass on hardboard) and is framed in the original 1970s gilt / dark brown wooden frame. The painting measures 66 x 37 cm in the frame and the artwork alone measures 59 x 31 cm. The vertical format is very effective and the medium size approximately lifesize for the vase with roses. Have a look at the images below which describe this lovely artwork better than I can. |
