DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTION	The listed artist Melvin Simmers painted this original water colour painting of the beautiful young BALLERINA MARINA KRAEMER on 22 December 1948 (Grey water colour with pencil). Signed at bottom left and with the ballerina's name and date at bottom right (in pencil). On paper and newly framed in a top quality Italian frame with a mount. Also glass protected. Measures 64 x 45 cm & the artwork without frame 53 x 34 cm.
CONDITION	Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

NOTES
Melvin Simmers was a very accomplished British born South African artist and art lecturer at the Michaelis School of Art (UCT) and a newspaper art critic. He was also a ballet dancer and had a great interest in the performing arts. He designed costumes for plays performed by UCT and other performing art bodies. His artworks have shown a steady (and recent dramatic) increase in value. This painting is AN EXCELLENT PIECE OF INVESTMENT ART. There is much information on the artist on the internet on sites such as Artprice.com and those of the top South African art auction sites.
