This edition of Roberts has the layout of a reference textbook rather than a field guide. The colour plates with illustrations are all grouped together at the front of the book, and the descriptions in the text are more comprehensive than would be expected in a field guide. Most descriptions contains sonagrams of the relevant bird's call(s).

Both books are in very good condition. Dust wrapper on the Roberts is still very good; very lightly edge worn. There is light creasing of the laminate at the bottom of the spine. The Field Companion (softcover) also lightly edge worn with one small brown spot on the leading text block edge.
