The book that documents over 500 rock engravings through illustrations and data, serving as an important historical record of the region's wildlife and art.The author spent 16 years mapping over 500 rock engravings in the Magaliesberg Valley. The book contains numerous full-page black and white illustrations (rubbings) that provide a historic record of the game that once roamed the area. The documented images include depictions of various animals, notably the now extinct Transvaal Black Rhinoceros subspecies, providing valuable ecological information. The engravings, made on fine-grained diabase rock, are associated with Khoe-San hunter-gatherer communities and are an important part of the Magaliesberg's archaeological landscape.
