ROLEX 1953 OYSTER SHOCK RESISTING

An Original 1953 Rolex Oyster Shock Resisting watch...

Great piece for your collection. Very rare black dial model. Also rare Rolex symbol. Serial nr: 922751
This is a hand wind watch with mechanical movement.

The watch was sent to Rolex, Lucerne Switzerland in 2018 for a dial cleaning and for its last service which cost around R7000.
The condition of the case and crystal depicts that the watch was in good hands for its lifetime. 

Truly a piece of history! ALL ORIGINAL except for the leather strap which has been replaced by an identical Hirsch leather strap. (obviously the original leather strap would have been pretty worn out after 66 years). The luminous dials light up perfectly when held under a light for a second or two as can be seen in one of the photos even after all that time!

I have taken the watch to two high-end  jewellers who are both of the opinion that this is the best condition pre-70's Rolex they have ever seen. I was advised to keep the watch as an investment but i cant justify keeping such an expensive piece for myself. No box or papers due to the age. You will NOT EVER find another exact same Rolex in this condition!

Keeps time 100%. A full wind lasts 41 hours which testifies of very good health on the watch.
