Rosenthal Postmodern retro porcelain platter from Flash series by Dorothy Hafner 1982

Offered for sale is a collectible, hard to find Rosenthal Germany  porcelain platter from the Flash series by American celebrity designer Dorothy Hafner. This range was introduced in 1982  and has been out of production for decades.It is a porcelain bodied platter with a pale cream coloured over glaze and vibrant post-modern Memphis inspired coloured border , transfer printed with decals. The piece is signed on the back with the designers facsimile signature , the Rosenthal Studio line imprint and the pattern number. Rosenthal was one of the first world famous porcelain manufacturers to commission designs for tableware and vases from celebrity designers of which Gianni Versace is probably the best known. Dorothy Hafner is an American artist, painter and sculptor who started designing ceramics in 1973. She has produced tableware collections for Rosenthal, Tiffany and Co and Neiman Marcus. Her  ceramic designs have been acquired by the Smithsonian Museum as exemplars of cutting edge modern design. Item listed is one of two pieces available (this is the smaller item).
