Circa 1990's ....strange but true !!!!!

Device was decommissioned between 2011-2014 from last outlying areas with manual telephone exchanges in Northern Cape.

This was the last model rotary phone produced by Post & Telecommunications of South Africa that was used by South African citizens on a public communication network. It has the Telkom dial pad logo ( See pics) indicating the 1990's period when that specific logo was first introduced.

This product is a niche piece of South African history and is a rare example of antiquated technology being utilised for decades beyond its relevance where it shared the same communication space with GSM/3G wireless technology in the first decade of the 21st century.
This device has been in use for almost 20 years before Telkom initiated a project to update exchanges to convert landline clients to wireless Fixed Line Look Alike (FLLA) over the GSM network. 

As with most collectables, the first model and the last model will always hold value.
