ROTHERHAMS SILVER POCKET WATCH = ENGLAND 

Richard Kevitt Rotherham started life as an apprentice watchmaker with the  Vale Company in 1747. By 1750 he had become a partner in the now called Vale, Howlett, Carr and Rotherham Company. This later changed its name to Rotherham & Sons. The firm of Rotherham & Sons, based in Coventry (Warwickshire), originated in 1822 when John Rotheram joined the 75-year-old firm of Vale & Co. as partner. By the 1880s Rotherhams were operating on a very large scale by British standards, with over 500 employees active in the production of both movements and cases. The firm maintained some kind of existence until as recently as 1973, but most of their surviving products seem to date from between about 1860 and 1914; later items, and some earlier ones too, are likely to be bought-in Swiss movements. Rotherhams of Coventry were one of the first companies to make watches by machine in England. The majority of the watches they produced had only 7 jewels so your watch is better than average.

Size ~ 1,5cm high x 5cm diameter excluding the winder

Weight ~ Approximately 115 grams

Condition: Reasonably good, seems to be working fine, but probably needs a service, missing the front glass cover, some scratches on the silver.
