Round Antique 'Argentor' Silver-Plated Tray
This good quality, round, antique silver-plated tray, or cake tray from the early 1900's was produced by the 'Argentor - Werke Rust & Hetzel' company who were well known for their production of art nouveau metalware and operated out of Berlin, Vienna and Paris. It has two, slightly raised curved handles that are part of a wonderful array of raised flowers, forming the handle mounts on each side of the tray. There's also a round piece of glass that fits in a shallow recess and sits flush with the border and on the base there's an impressed factory mark 'ARGENTOR A.S.'. The tray appears to be silver-plated on brass, and other than wear to the plating in places from years of polishing, it's in good condition. It has a diameter of 29,5cm, measures 35cm handle to handle and weighs 1030g.
