Round, copper wall plate depicting a romantic scene in repoussé

"RD820684 Made in England". Diameter approx 355mm.

Made in England stamped on the back and has a triangular hook for hanging fitted. Registered Design Number RD820684 appears on the plate.

RD numbers in the 800,000 range were typically registered in the early 1970s, so RD820684 likely dates to around 1972 - 1974.  Many RD numbers from the 1970s arent digitized or widely documented online and I could not find this exact registered design number. Registered design numbers form smaller workshops in Birmingham and Sheffield, which were hubs for copper and brass production in England, were often only documented in official archives.

The romantic scene depicted fits with the 1970s trend for nostalgic, historical themes.

The plate is in very good condition. It has a reddish patina and some areas of verdigris (greenish-blue oxidation), which is typical for aged copper.
