DESCRIPTION | Normally when I find odd pieces of Royal Albert bone china there are no cups, but only saucers and cake plates - because the cups are the pieces that get broken first. This time, however, I found 5 cups (in good condition nogal) and they are on offer in this lot. The cups are in the 'Cornish Rockery' pattern and the 'Countess' shape. This is a very popular Royal Albert pattern which depicts a rockery in the English garden county Kent. The pattern is panoramic (right around the cup) and multicoloured. There is also a floral pattern along the rim on the inside of the cup bowl and overglaze gilt on the cup ear, rim and foot. These beautiful cups were produced before the death of Queen Mary in 1953 since they have the wording 'As supplied to Her Majesty Queen Mary' on the foot along with the Royal Albert markings. You can see the 5 cups on this auction above. For more details see the 4 images with descriptions which follow . |
CONDITION | The cups are all in good condition with no cracks or chips. There is periodic slight rubbing of the overglaze gilt. |
5 Lovely cups to complete duos or trios. |
