Royal Albert coffee duo in the best-selling "Old Country Roses" pattern. Both pieces are decorated with posies of various coloured roses with richly gilded trimmings. Royal Albert marketed these duos as "demi-tasse" although the sizes are much bigger than that term would warrant -- the cup holds about 190 ml of liquid. The cup shape is called "Montrose Demi Tasse". This pattern was first introduced in 1962 and is still in production. Since there is no copyright date under the back stamp, this example is an older one.
Condition: Both the cup and saucer are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The gilding is intact and the colours are bright and cheerful. There is, however, a small factory defect on the side of the cup with a brownish spot that appears to be a glaze bubble or pop -- see the last photo.
Dimensions: The cup measures 7.3 cm across (about 9.5 cm including the handle) and is 6.7 cm high. The saucer measures about 12.4 cm across.
Postage: R50 insured parcel post with tracking number with SAPO, or else R100 with Postnet branch-to-branch.
