ROYAL CROWN DERBY LAUNCHED THE PAPERWEIGHT RANGE IN 1981 AND EACH PAPERWEIGHT IS HAND-DECORATED AND FINISHED WITH HAND-APPLIED GOLD AND SO IS ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE. THE UNIQUENESS OF THESE PIECES HAS ENDEARED THEM TO COLLECTORS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

ROYAL CROWN DERBY:
The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company is the oldest remaining English porcelain manufacturer, based in Derby England. The company, particularly known for its high-quality bone china having produced tableware and ornamental items since approximately 1750. It was known as 'Derby Porcelain' until 1773, when it became 'Crown Derby', the 'Royal' being added in 1890. Queen Victoria granted permission to use "Royal" in the company name in 1890. The factory closed down in the past under Royal Doulton ownership, but production was revived under the renewed ownership of Hugh Gibson and Pearson family.
 
PAPERWEIGHTS: The first Royal Crown Derby paperweights, five birds and a rabbit, were launched at a reception at Chatsworth House in 1981. These models were to develop into one of the most important ranges of china figures in the world of collecting.
