Royal Delft Wit Schotel Charger 1898-1948 Queen Wilhelmina Reign - Abdication Schaal
House of Orange, Netherlands, De Porceleyne Fles
A different kind of Delft, a WHITE CHARGER hand-painted by the most famous of all Delft manufacturers, DE PORCELEYNE FLES!
This commemorative charger celebrates the reign of Wilhelmina as Queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 1890 to 1948. Her reign lasted nearly 58 years, making her the longest-reigning Dutch monarch. Her time on the throne saw World War I, World War II, the economic crisis of 1933, and the decline of the Netherlands as a major colonial power. She is particularly remembered internationally for her role during World War II and her inspiration to the Dutch resistance.
Plooischotel dishes were typically used for display or as fruit bowls.
Size: Approx 28 x 5cm
Condition: As per photos, with one chip on the bottom edge and age-related crazing. Despite these imperfections, it would still display beautifully on a wall, ready to hang.
While I strive to provide a precise description, please keep in mind that this is a vintage item, and there may be minor imperfections due to age or production that I might have overlooked or not mentioned. I do my best to note all flaws, marks, and deficiencies.
