Royal Doulton - Bunnykins plate

On offer this vintage Royal Doulton, Bunnykins plate, signed by Barbara Vernon. The plate has a diameter of 16.5cm. The story goes that in 1934, Sister Mary Barbara Vernon who was the daughter of the factory manager, drew the first Bunnykins character and everyone who saw the sketch was charmed by it and so the Bunnykins range was launched. The Bunnykins Collection still continues today and has a huge following. The early pieces designed by Barbara Vernon are the most valuable and are somewhat difficult to come by. Sister Mary Barbara Vernon ceased drawing when her teaching became too demanding and her designs were withdrawn by 1952. Signed pieces always command a premium. No chips or cracks but the picture on the plate showing a few scratches. I suspect it has a spot of restoration on the underside of the rim from a previous small chip, I am not 100% sure about this, but mentioning it for accuracy sake. Still a lovely vintage item that is very rare and collectible and will add value to any collection.
