In the popular song of the 18th Century, this very adaptable parson boasted that he was able to accommodate himself to the religious views of Charles, James, Willian, William, Anne and George, and that "whosoever King may reign, he would always be the Vicar of Bray."
The Vicar of Bray, designed by Charles Noake and Henry Fenton, was issued between 1936 and 1960. The backstamp on this copy dates it more or less between 1939 to 1947, but this cannot be guaranteed.
