Offered for sale is a highly decorative and collectible Royal Doulton miniature vase in the iconic " Poppies in a wheatfield " pattern, amongst the most popular of Doultons seriesware range . The vase was made in Stoke On Trent England by the famous Doulton manufactory and probably dates to the 1940's or early 1950's judging from the black Royal Doulton backstamp on the base . Thissdesign was in production from 1931-1950. This petite vase has a lantern shaped with slightly flared neck and base and a squared top aperture , base and profile. The decorative motif is a combination of transfer printing and hand painting with the bold red poppies appearing at the base of the vase and a landscape depiction on the body of the vase , namely a thatched cottage with chimney, fields, trees with spreading canopies and wheat stalks .
