ROYAL POINCIANA TREE - 10 DELONIX REGIA SEEDS

Other common names:  Gold mohn. Peacock flower. Royal poinciana. Flambouyant Tree.  Fire Tree

Delonix Regia is a quick growing tree, with a naturally occuring umbrella shape.  The spreading crown forms a diameter that is wider than the tree's height, making it a great tree for providing shade for our hot summer days.  This tree is normally an evergreen, but can be deciduous in areas where the dry season is long and pronounced. 

The tree can grows to a height of between 10 to 18 meters tall, and a bole that can attain a girth of up to 2 meters. 

This beautiful tree, is used for a wide range of uses, from medicines, food, timber, fuel and beads.  As it is from the legume family, the tree gives back to the soil that supports its life, by stabilizing the soil, and enriching the soil.  

It has now become a very popular tree to use as a bonsai specimen, but will work well in any garden that allows for a medium size tree. 

Native to Madagascar.
