A Scarce Cased Set of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to Commemorate the Centenary of the Burgers Pond of 1874. Issued at the the 5th National Numismatic Convention hosted by the Transvaal Numismatic Society in 1974. Made by Tommy Sasseen and struck at the South African Mint. The recorded mintage of the 3-medal sets was 150 and this set was the 29th one struck; so this is a scarce item.   • Gold Medal. 9ct gold. Stamped on the edge with the SA Mint 9ct gold mark. This has been double-stamped and the marks are indistinct. Also stamped with the issue number: "29". Diameter 38.2 mm. Mass 32.5 gm. Actual gold weight 0.39 troy ounces.
  • Silver Medal: Sterling silver (so stamped on the edge with the SA Mint marks). Diameter 38.1 mm. Mass 28.2 gm
  • Bronze medal. Unmarked. Diameter 38.2 mm. Mass 26.0 gm.
