Rule of Fear - The Life and Times of Dingane King of the Zulu.

Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First Edition 1964 Published by Longmans, Green and Co Ltd., London. In Excellent Condition.

"Had I not known old Sipho (Sixpence) Ngcube I might never have written this book.  Indeed, I might not have embarked on my career as a student of the non-white people of Southern Africa.

For, when I look back on my childhood years on a Transvaal farm, I recall many happy hours spent at a cluster of huts, where, in the company of herdsboys, I listened wide-eyed and open-mouthed to stories of valour recounted by this old man; tales from the history of his Zulu ancestors.  Sixpence Ngcube was a narrator par excellence.  He was my boyhood hero in much the same way as he had conceived the historical giants - Shaka, Mzilikazi, Dingane, Cetshwayo, Moshoeshoe, Mantatisi and others - as his heroes."

Taken from Preface of book.
