 PURPLE CLIMBING BEANS

Heirloom climbing/pole bean with attractive purple pods.

A purple podded climbing french bean. The strong growing plants will produce 20cm long purple pods over many weeks. Productive and attractive plants, a really great addition to your garden. These are heirloom vegetable seeds.
These seeds have been grown completely organically and without the use of any pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
For earliest crop sow the seeds inside in individual pots about 3 weeks before the last expected frost.  Sow seeds individually in small pots 3-4 cm deep. Keep the temperature between 17-22 Celsius. Transplant outside when the plants are strong and all risk of frost has passed. Be careful when transplanting, do not disturb the root ball.

For best results, wait until all frost risk is over, and then plant in situ.
Outside sowing can be done in spring when the soil is warm enough for the beans, make sure the soil temperature is around 15 Celsius.  Sow 2-3 cm deep in well prepared soil. Allow 15-20 cm between the seeds.  Should conditions be perfect, each bean plant will need at least 2 poles of its own to climb up.   My top bean plant this year (2016) has 6 runners, and the last count, it had in excess of 60 bean pods - its still flowering.  These are - in my opinion - the best bean to grow.  Its beautiful, tasty, and plentiful!
Make a fresh planting every month, for a continuous supply of these tasty treats, from Mid September to January.  If you live in a frost free area, with a good winter sun, continue to plant for a few more months.

Prefers full sun and a moderately rich soil.
