Biography of the leader of Operation Noah and famed Rhodesian conservationist. The story of Rupert Fothergill, game ranger, leader and reluctant hero of Operation Noah, in a way runs parallel with the history of the first seventeen years of game conservation in the country today known as Zimbabwe. It follows the evolution of the then Game Section of the Department of Mines, Lands and Surveys of the Southern Rhodesia government to what eventually became one of the most effective wildlife bodies in Africa the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Management of Rhodesia. From a lone Game Officer to a staff of hundreds.
