Rupert Norman Shephard (1909-1992 ) . View of Devils Peak Cape Town Oil with painted Frame!

This is an interesting Cape Town piece from the artist's early South African period, dated 1950, painted from a stoep with a wooden railing and with a view of Devil's Peak, Cape Town.

Painting itself 44 by 33 cm.

Gold frame hand painted by the artist is 63 cm x 52 cm.

Rupert Shephard (died 1992) is a listed artist of some international repute. He spent a lot of time in South Africa and his South African paintings are sought after. His portrait of Dylan Thomas was chosen by the National Portrait Gallery in London.

On 19 March 2013, A small Rupert Shephard oil of Hermanus reached R29900 at a Rudd's auction in Cape Town.
