Russian Black lacquer Paper mache Trinket box Signed

Russian Lacquer Boxes are a traditional Russian folk-art form dating from the late 1700s. Historically, workshops in the villages of Fedoskino, Palekh, Kholui, and Mstera have been the primary producers of Russian lacquer boxes. They are made of cardboard sheets, pressed and formed, then boiled in linseed oil. This paper-mâché is then baked in an oven. Extremely fine brushes are used to achieve the fine lines and details in each painting. The box is hand-crafted, hinged, classically black colored and the interior is red, converted into a beautiful piece of art.
